Immersion A Point of Reentry

Immersion: A Point of Re-Entry

IMMERSION is SVdP’s national reentry program, which supports returning citizens and their families as they face the challenges of reintegrating into society. Through mentorship and community partnerships, IMMERSION participants are aided on their journey to a livable wage, safe affordable housing, and overall well being.

IMMERSION is a point of reentry that focuses on building people to think, act, and behave more positively and productively through a focus on healthy relationships, employability, financial capability, and stretching expectations.
The IMMERSION program provides access to SVdP resources available throughout the United States for returning citizens in need of critical supportive wrap-around services.
With Catholic Social Teaching at the core of our spiritual beliefs, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s IMMERSION program expands our work in Systemic Change initiatives to end poverty by focusing on assisting a large demographic we serve, our returning citizen brothers and sisters in Christ, and their families.

“You cannot talk about paying a debt to society from a jail cell without windows, there is no humane punishment without a horizon. No one can see their life without a horizon. And so many times we are blocking the view of our inmates. Take this image of the windows and the horizon and insure that in your countries the prisons always have a window and a horizon….”
– Pope Francis
